Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee heaped praises on SunRisers Hyderabad’s Umran Malik. In the recently concluded 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, many young Indian bowlers impressed everyone with their pace however it was Umran Malik, who stood out with his performance.
All thanks to his raw pace and amazing bowling spells, Umran’s name was on everyone’s lips during the just-concluded season. Umran Malik was retained by SunRisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2022 and the Indian pacer repaid the selectors’ faith by showcasing his fast bowling skills in the IPL 2022. He breathed fire as he clocked above 150 km/h on a consistent basis in the ongoing season of IPL.

Meanwhile, Malik has been receiving praises from all the corners all thanks to his brilliant performances. Among many, former Australian pacer Brett Lee, who has been impressed with the passion and Malik’s love for fast bowling, has hailed him by comparing him to one of the greatest Pakistani speed merchants.

While many fans would have thought that Brett Lee would have compared Umran Malik to Shoaib Akhtar, who is hailed as World’s fastest bowler, but to everyone’s surprise, Brett Lee said that the Indian youngster reminds him of how Waqar Younis used to bowl for his side. He said:
“I am a big fan. I think Umran Malik has got a lot of pace to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past. Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind,”
Umran Malik had a sensational season as he picked 22 wickets in 14 games he played and he often clocked speeds in excess of 150 kmph. All thanks to his terrific performances in IPL 2022, he got the Emerging Player award and has also earned his national call-up in light of his performances in IPL 2022.
