Shreyas Iyer Made A Heartfelt Statement After KKR’s Elimination From IPL 2022

Shreyas Iyer Made A Heartfelt Statement After KKR’s Elimination From IPL 2022: The 2-times Indian Premier League champions – Kolkata Knight Riders were knocked out of the playoffs race after a 2-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants in a nail-biting finish at the DY Patil Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a mammoth total of 211 runs, Shreyas Iyer’s team came thrillingly close to the target but they fell short of just 3 runs despite a stunning half-century from Shreyas Iyer, a crucial 42 runs knock from Nitish Rana, and a quickfire 15-ball 40 from Rinku Singh.

Though the team lost the game by a very close margin, which eventually knocked them out of the playoffs race but KKR captain Shreyas Iyer revealed that there is no sadness in the camp as he feels that it was one of the best games of cricket he has ever played.

“I’m not feeling sad at all because that was one of the best games of cricket I’ve ever played to be honest. The performance, the way we showed our character and attitude in this game, it was simply outstanding,” Shreyas told Star Sports.

Iyer also heaped praises on Rinku Singh, who played a thrilling knock in the end but failed to take his side over the line. He said:

“I love the way Rinku got us to the end, but unfortunately couldn’t time it when two balls were remaining. He was really sad. I was hoping that he could finish the game for us. He could have been the hero. Still, he played a fantastic knock and I’m really happy for him,”

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer also took to his official Twitter handle and wrote a heart-touching note for his fans. In his Tweet, Iyer talked about his journey in IPL 2022 and expressed his gratitude towards the fans. He wrote:

We gave it everything we had, we left everything out there on the field. Proud of our attitude and the character we showed. Thank you to all the fans for the support, now and always 💜💛 @KKRiders”
