IPL 2022: Here’s Why Matthew Hayden In Unhappy With Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals’ young finisher Riyan Parag has been making a lot of news lately. Be it his terrific performances with the bat and the ball or his on-field mannerisms, he has managed to grab everyone’s attention in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

In his recent outing against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants, Parag grabbed all the limelight once again. His latest act has drawn flak from former cricketers as well as fans. Among many, Matthew Hayden, who was a part of the commentary box during the game, gave a piece of advice to Parag after he was seen mocking the third umpire for his decision.

Well, the incident took place during the 19th over of the game, bowled by Obed McCoy hit by Marcus Stoinis towards the deep mid-wicket but it didn’t get the best of connections. Riyan, who was stationed at long-on sprinted and it seemed to complete a terrific catch. But after seeing the replays, the third umpire deemed that the ball had bounced just before Riyan completed the grab.

In the next over, Stoinis went for another big hit but once again he skied it and this time again Parag went for the catch to get rid of the Australian cricketer. After taking the catch, Parag did something that no one expected as he motioned in a way as if he has taken the catch just above the grass.

Matthew Hayden, who was present at that time was not pleased by the act and said: “Got some advice for you young man, cricket is a very very long game, and we all have very long memories and you never ever tempt fate because it comes around quick enough,”

Meanwhile, after receiving backlash from former cricketers, Riyan Parag took to his Twitter and posted a cryptic tweet that read:

“No one’s gonna care in 20 years, soooo much more to life…. enjoy it”
