Jasprit Bumrah made a sensational comeback in the ongoing Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders game of the ongoing IPL 2022 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Mumbai Indians might be out of the ongoing tournament, but Jasprit Bumrah-led bowling attack made sure to make it really hard for Kolkata Knight Riders to make it to the playoffs.
Coming out to ball first, Mumbai were expensive inside the Powerplay overs and the spinners weren’t also as effective as they could have been Kumar Kartikeya brought the momentum for his side as he picked up a couple of wickets to get MI back into the game.
However, it was the performance of Jasprit Bumrah that stole the show on Monday. Jasprit Bumrah was brought back in for one over in the middle phase and he turned the tables for his side by dismissing the big wishes — Nitish Rana and Andre Russell. He later came back to death and picked up three more wickets to complete his maiden five-fer in IPL.
Apart from Rana and Russell, Bumrah also picked the wickets of Sheldon Jackson, Pat Cummins, and Sunil Narine. Cummins and Narine were dismissed for ducks. Before the ongoing MI vs KKR game, Bumrah had taken only 5 wickets from 10 matches.
After picking his maiden five-fer, Bumrah talked about his performance against KKR. He said:
“ It was a good day. I was looking to use the dimensions of the ground. When things are going your way, it’s important to stay in the present and not to overdo things. Whenever you help the team, make an impact, that gives me satisfaction.”
“That’s the way I always play my cricket, so happy with my performance. I don’t go there with a fixed mindset, I train for all situations and I understand, that sometimes I have to bowl at the start, sometimes in the end.”
