RCB vs SRH: The umpiring in the IPL 2022 has been, one can say, at poor levels. And not just the Indian umpires, even the overseas ones have got a few controversial decisions.
On a number of occasions, cricketers and fans have been left distraught and frustrated with the dire level of umpiring this season. A couple of times, franchise captains – such as Delhi Capitals’ Rishabh Pant and Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson – have expressed their feelings openly and have had an altercation with the umpire for their calls.
On Sunday afternoon during the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad match at the Wankhede, the umpires, Bruce Oxenford and Nitin Pandit, made another big gaffe.
During RCB’s innings, between overs 11 and 12, the RCB batters and the umpires forgot to change the strike of the batsmen! On the last ball of the 11th over, Rajat Patidar took a single and should have kept the strike for the next over.
However, it was RCB skipper Faf du Plessis who faced the first ball of the 12th over and not Patidar! This blunder went unnoticed by all, the batters, the SRH players, the umpires and even the commentators as nobody raised any question.
It was one Twitter user, with Twitter handle “lokeshdjangada”, who brought this umpiring error in RCB vs SRH game to everyone’s attention then fans started talking about it. The user put up a screenshot of Cricbuzz’s commentary of the two overs and highlighted this massive blunder.
“What umpiring is happening?” The user angrily questioned.
Here, check out the tweet:

Netizens were really unhappy and upset about such unacceptable umpiring mistakes that could potentially have a huge impact on the game.
