IPL 2021 Retention: Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t have a very successful tournament. The team failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished the tournament in the fifth position. In fact, IPL 2020 also witnessed Dinesh Karthik stepping down from the captaincy duties with Eoin Morgan donning the skipper’s hat.
Though the team started off well but the team lost its consistency in the second half of the IPL 2020 and as a result, the team couldn’t reach the playoffs owing to some slender net run rate margins.
On Wednesday, two times champions Kolkata Knight Riders released their complete list of retained and released players for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Unlike other franchises, KKR’s team management has retained most of their key players.
The only big name, KKR decided to release ahead of the 2021 IPL edition is Tom Banton, who failed to impress with the willow in IPL 2020.

Meanwhile, KKR has retained the core of their squad. They have retained immensely talented foreign recruits like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Pat Cummins. They also have some highly capable youngsters in the squad like Shubman Gill, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy and Kamlesh Nagarkoti.
