The Number 1 Player In IPL 2020: Former Indian cricketer and IPL winning skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Gautam Gambhir is one of the most fearless analysts in the game of cricket. Gambhir, unlike other analysts, doesn’t mince his words while sharing his views on anything related to the game of cricket.
Recently, while appearing on ESPNcricinfo, Gautam Gambhir rated KXIP skipper KL Rahul as the number 1 player in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). KL Rahul was at the top of his game against RCB. Rahul, who was given a couple of lucky chances by Virat Kohli, made an absolute mockery of Bangalore’s bowling attack.
KL Rahul hammered an unbeaten 132 in 69 balls to help his side to a mammoth total of 206/3 in 20 overs.
Talking about KL Rahul’s innings, former West Indian cricketer and a well-known commentator Ian Bishop put his weight behind KL Rahul and said that the way he accelerates towards the end makes his a complete batsman.
“The way he balanced his innings was great. I was sitting there watching those first 50 runs, and outside of the powerplay I was thinking ‘geez, he is just settling there, not anchor it, but looking to balance it’. “
“And I think he did that beautifully. Forget the chances, the way he accelerates towards the end, having batting that deep in the innings, I think it makes him a complete batsman,” he added.
Gautam Gambhir said that KL Rahul didn’t play even a single slog in his innings and he is a quality batsman. Gambhir also added that he agrees with Ian Bishop that KL Rahul is the number 1 player in IPL 2020 at the moment.
“This was a proper inning. Not even a single slog in the innings to be honest. That is what the quality of the man is. He can hit those cricketing shots and with that much of impact and that much strike rate, he shows what he is capable of.
“I have to agree with Ian Bishop that in IPL, he is probably the no. 1 player at the moment,” Gautam Gambhir further said.
