With the powerplay coming to an end and only six overs being bowled so far, Twitter already had a winner. It is none other than Indian seamer Mohammad Shami.
With a whiff of movement in the opening over by Sheldon Cottrell, Shami started exploiting that right away. His first ball was moving away from the right-hander Prithvi Shaw which had a trace of danger linked to it.
After bowling out an exceptional over that saw him conceding just a solitary run and impacting a run out, his second over was sheer gold.
Shami scalped his first of the night as he banged a short ball outside off stump which was misjudged by Prithvi Shaw, holing out to Nicholas Pooran just at the edge of the circle. The next nall flew to the boundary, thanks to a perfectly-threaded pull shot by Shimron Hetmeyer.
However, that was just a deceptive offering that Shami handed over to the West Indian as he pitched a ball a bit fuller this time and Hetmeyer fell for the trap. Swinging his bat wildly, he ended up slicing the ball straight down the throat of Mayank Agarwal, giving the number two to Shami.
His third over was another gem as it only spilt 2 runs and pegged Delhi back further. Twitter simply couldn’t keep calm as praises were heaped on the experienced Indian fast bowler. We will look at the ten best tweets on Mohammad Shami.
Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Always enjoy watching Shami bowl. But this is as good an opening spell as any. Good pace, typical Shami movement….”

Another user expressed his concern about just the solitary over left as he posted, “Since Mohammad Shami replaced Bhuvi in 2019 World Cup he is the best seam bowler. Doing great job with the new ball.
He did pretty well in death overs too, he’s got One over left now.
