The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League has also suffered because of the Coronavirus. The season that was earlier slated to start from March 29 has now been suspended till April 15 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. There are speculations on whether the league will go on or will get canceled.
As the speculations are going on, former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has now shed light upon the possible scenarios for IPL 2020, in his latest video on YouTube.
Saying it out loud, Aakash Chopra didn’t hesitate in admitting that it would be very difficult to get the Indian Premier League underway even on the rescheduled date however it is very tough to predict the future of the tournament.
Aakash Chopra also said how the league might take place in a single city unlike happening in various home cities of the franchises.
Answering a question on MS Dhoni’s future in cricket if IPL doesn’t take place. Talking about the same, he said:
“For a player like Dhoni, IPL was never going to be a yardstick. If he had scored runs in the IPL, experts would have been like ‘select Dhoni’, ‘do this and do that’. MS Dhoni knows what he is doing, whether he wants to come back or not. IPL, I don’t think was a critical factor. If he wants to come back, he will make himself available, if the selectors decide to pick him, he will be picked automatically because you won’t get experience in supermarkets.”
He added:
“Dhoni is a hugely experienced player. If India needs MS Dhoni, then with or without IPL, he will come back.”
