Every year, many young cheerleaders from South Africa and America come to India, to participate in the biggest cricketing festival of the country- Indian Premier League (IPL). Right from the first season, these cheerleaders have been one of the biggest attraction for the crowd at stadiums.
But, having said this, their job isn’t as easy or glamorous as it appears. These cheerleaders travel away from their families and work extremely hard throughout the tournament. The weather conditions are also extremely hot during the IPL and this makes their job is even more difficult.
There have been some controversies regarding cheerleaders and their roles, in the past. South African cheerleader Gabriella Pasqualotto employed by Mumbai Indians was thrown out of the tournament for blogging about the inappropriate behaviour of cricketers.
Many fans in India believe that cheerleading is a very glamourous job and they get paid a lot of money for entertaining the crowd with their dance move and athleticism on sidelines.
