Twitterati Lashes Out On Mohammad Kaif For His ‘Unique’ Tweet For Nuwan Kulasekara

Nuwan Kulasekara, the pacer of Sri Lanka’s cricket team, on Wednesday, announced his retirement with immediate effect. This came out as a shock to many, as his announcement came out a couple of days before Lasith Malinga will be playing his final match against Bangladesh on Friday.

Twitter was soon flooded with posts from fans, cricketers and cricket pundits, giving tribute to the pacer. However, he was trolled by former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif.

Mohammad Kaif took to his twitter to bid farewell to Kulasekara through a post. However, in his post, Kaif linked the Kulasekara with the final of the 2011 World Cup when the then India captain MS Dhoni hit him for a six to lift the World Cup 2011’s trophy. He wrote:

“Nuwan Kulasekara retires ! At one stage, the number one ODI bowler in the world,

but for every Indian, favourite Kulasekara moment is-
“Dhoni finishes off in style.. India lift the world cup after 28 years””.”

Here, check out his tweet :

Mohammad Kaif’s tweet didn’t go down well with the fans of ‘gentlemen’s game’, who were quick to tell him that it’s not the right way to bid farewell to someone who is retiring.

Twitterati even reminded Mohammad Kaif of T20 World Cup 2014, where Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni had struggled to score against Kulasekara’s death bowling, which eventually resulted in India losing the cup.

Here have a look at how twitterati reacted on this:
