We Agree With Sourav Ganguly’s Statement On Ajinkya Rahane Shubnam Gill

Recently, BCCI announced the ODI squad for team India for the upcoming tour against the West Indies. The Indian selectors have picked the players by considering their recent performances. Everyone is left surprised by inclusion of a few players and omission of others.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly expressed his disappointment, in a series of tweet, at the omission of Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane from the ODI squad for the upcoming series in West Indies. He wrote:

There are many in the squad who can play all formats ..surprised not to see shubman gill ..Rahane in the one day squad..”

Sourav Ganguly added it’s time that the selectors start picking the same players for all the formats. He wrote:

Time has come for Indian selectors to pick same players in all formats of the game for rhythm and confidence.. too few are playing in all formats ..great teams had consistent players ..it’s not about making all happy but picking the best for the country and be consistent..@bcci

Many cricket pundits, experts, and fans are left disappointed after Subman Gill not being included in the ODI squad as he had been in good form for India A. Recently, Shubman Gill scored 218 runs in the series against West Indies A.

Shubman Gill is also very disappointed. He openly admitted that he hoped to be picked for at least one format. However, he says that he will keep trying to impress the selectors. He told CricketNext:

“I was waiting for the Indian senior team to be announced on Sunday and I expected to be selected for at least one of the squads,”

He added:

“It was disappointing not to get picked but I am not going to spend time thinking over it. I’ll keep scoring runs and performing to the best of my ability to impress the selectors.
