Virat Kohli and his men have scripted history by winning the first ever ODI series in South Africa. This team has achieved what no previous Indian team could do and that makes it a moment to remember forever.
India is the number one ODI team in the world and in this series they’ve exactly played like the number one team.
Rohit’s Ton Sealed Series
Riding on Rohit Sharma’s brilliant ton, India won the fifth ODI by 73 runs and also ascertained a series win. Rohit Sharma has been in troubled waters ever since the tour of South Africa started. After a poor run of form in the test series, things only worsened for him in the ongoing ODI series but the 5th ODI brought him a great relief.
Rohit Sharma was finally amongst runs and Port Elizabeth turned out to be generous for him. Rohit smashed his 17th Century as he played a brilliant knock of 115 runs which helped the team reach a defendable total of 275. Before this knock, Rohit had scored just 40 runs in 4 games and he was surely struggling.
Virat Kohli Is A Proud Indian Captain
After India won the series with one match still to go, Virat Kohli expressed his joy. Here’s what Kohli said
“Very pleased. Another convincing win for us and I thought the guys really got stuck in, with the bat, with the ball and on the field as well. Only one team has the pressure of losing the series right from the start and that was South Africa.
Right from the third Test in Jo’burg, it has been a great time for us. It has been a collective effort from the team-mates, the support staff and everybody.”
Kohli further added
Every now and then you get an opportunity you might not click, and when this series is wrapped up we’ll look to think about what we can do to improve. 4-1 seems great at the moment and we’ll look to wrap it up well. We want to win 5-1 for sure, that doesn’t change, but there’ll be a chance for others to step in as well. The first priority is to win and that is what we’ll look to do.”
Sachin Shares A Special Message
After a convincing series win in South Africa, everyone is proud of this team. As everyone heaped praises on Kohli and his men, Sachin Tendulkar too shared a beautiful message.
