After losing the fist Test, South Africa came back strongly in the second Test and outplayed England in all three departments of the game, and are now closing in on a memorable victory in front of a packed house at Trent Bridge.

Proteas showed a lot of character and fighting spirit and surprised England with a very aggressive and ruthless performance in the second innings. South Africa posted a big total of 335 runs in the first innings and dismissed England for just 205. Chris Morris and Keshav Maharaj were the pick of the bowlers as they picked 3 wickets each.

They were supported well by the speedsters Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel who picked two wickets each. Duanne Olivier was the only wicketless bowler for Proteas in the first innings.

In the second innings, South Africa once again batter very well and declared their innings at the score of 343/9. In reply, English batters yet again suffered against Maharaj and Morris and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. This time, Morris and Philander picked 3 wickets each as the hosts bundled out for just 133 runs.

There were many good deliveries bowled by Proteas but the one Chris Morris bowled to England captain Joe Root was absolutely unbelievable. It was unplayable and Root had no answer.

Bowling over the wicket, Morris delivered a perfect yorker that moved away after pitching and hit the off-stump. There was nothing Root could have done to avoid the dismissal as the ball swung very late and just enough to hit Root’s off-stump. Watch it here:
