5 Most Underrated Cricketers In India

The Indian cricket team production line is one that has produced incredible talents over the years. There have been some legends of the game while there have been some who have not been able to make the mark. There are some in between too; ones who quietly go about their work. Here are 5 of the most underrated cricketers in India:

Ambati Rayudu

Rayudu is one cricketer who has played at the big stage for India but has not stamped his spot in the team. The reason behind this remains the fact that a lot of other cricketers have managed to grab their chances and score more. Rayudu is not a bad player however. He has two international centuries and a few fifty plus scores as well.

Manoj Tiwary

5 Most Underrated Cricketers In India

Manoj Tiwary is another batsman who has not got his due in the international stage. This is in spite of the fact that he has an international century in Australia to his name.  Tiwary is however, a modern great in the domestic circuit. He has 11,000 plus runs in domestic cricket but has just not been given a fair chance in the international arena.

Robin Uthappa

5 Most Underrated Cricketers In India

A batsman and a handy keeper, Uthappa was given his chances but just not enough. He has shown that he is capable in the biggest stages with some great performances in the T20 World Cup in 2007 as well as the series against England before that. His form dipped after the Asia Cup in 2008 and the emergence of a certain Virat Kohli put paid to his chances of making it back to the biggest stages.

Amit Mishra

5 Most Underrated Cricketers In India

A good leg-spinner is always a hard bowler to bat against and Amit Mishra is one player who has a certain pedigree when it comes to the craft. He first raised into mainstream contention post his hat-trick for the Delhi Daredevils. He was a regular in the Indian team before Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja proved their mettle with their bowling and their handy batting abilities. Mishra is still a very good bowler and could walk into any other team in the world. He is good but is still underrated for the team.

Dinesh Karthik

5 Most Underrated Cricketers In India

A consistent performer in domestic cricket, Karthik has been included in the Champions Trophy squad but only after a long wait. After the emergence of Dhoni and the likes of Kohli, Rohit and Yuvraj cementing their spots in the squad, Dinesh Karthik was out of contention and had to grind it out in the domestic circuit for years before getting back into the squad once again. He would have had more chances had Dhoni not had a meteoric rise, but still has a lot to offer and could enjoy a renaissance as a pure batsman.
