Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the most loved celebrity in India. His biopic ‘Sachin: The Film’ finally released on Friday and as expected, his fans turned out in numbers to watch and celebrate the journey of one of the greatest sportspersons in the world. In the last couple of months, Sachin has promoted his movie very extensively on social media and other platforms. The Little Master even promoted his movie during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

‘Sachin: The Film’ released in 2400 screens in India and 400 screens overseas did fairly well on it’s first day of release. The film almost had 40% occupancy in most places inspite Friday being a working day.  With this release, Sachin Tendulkar has become India’s first sportsman to feature in his own biopic and has joined the league of greats like Mohammad Ali, Ayrton Senna, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Jordan.

Coming to the business side of Sachin’s biopic, it made INR 8.4 crore on the first day of its release. One of the best film critics in India, Taran Adarsh shared this information on his Twitter account.

“Considering it’s a docu-drama, #SachinABillionDreams opens IMPRESSIVELY… Fri ₹ 8.40 cr. India biz [Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, English]”

If compare these numbers with MS Dhoni: The Untold Story which did a business of INR 21.3 crore on its opening, Sachin’s biopic hasn’t revived the grand reception we all were hoping for. But, it will surely pick momentum on Saturday and Sunday because Friday was a working day and more people go for movies during weekends.
