1) Sir Vivian Richard’s Timely Phone call
After India’s ordinary performance in ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, Sachin had locked him up in his house and didn’t speak to anybody for seven days. The media was also talking about his retirement and this made Sachin very depressed.
But, it was one call from his batting idol Sir Vivian Richards that motivated Sachin. Sir Viv spoke to him, over the phone, and urged him to continue playing.
2) Don’t wish me luck
The Little Master didn’t like getting best wishes from anybody before a match. Even if his coach said, “Sachin, good luck”, Sachin would say “NO! don’t tell me that”.
Sachin Tendulkar is one of the most superstitious cricketer, ever!
3) Little Master’s love story
Sachin Tendulkar’s wife Anjali was so fond of him that when she first saw him in 1990s, she went back home and prepared a scrapbook of Sachin’s pictures, which she cut out from newspapers.
4) Team India weren’t served food before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semi-final against Pakistan
On the day of semi-final Indian cricketers weren’t given breakfast on time because the dinning area was sealed for Pakistan cricket team due to security reasons. The players went on to the field without having eaten. And, to add more to it, their lunch truck was late too that day.
When players were angry about not getting food on time, Sachin urged his team to stop thinking about food and concentrate on the game on hand instead.
5) Career threatening injury that made Sachin even stronger
In 2001, Sachin suffered a toe injury and doctors advised him to stay away from the game and not to put too much weight on his injured toe. But Sachin didn’t give up and for the next 12 years of his career, he batted with extensive padding on toe.
