BCCI has announced their 18-member squad for the three-match ODI series against England scheduled to begin from 23 March, and interestingly, it features three potential debutants. Let’s look at some of the most eye-catching selections from this squad.
Seem like Suryakumar Yadav‘s blistering innings the other night have didn’t go unnoticed and earned him his deserved place in the ODIs as well. After his innings against England, he seems like a certainty in the playing XI of one of the three one-day face-offs against England. It would be interesting to see whether his technical skill set fits into the ODIs or not.
Siraj has finally made his way into the ODI squad after bowling some match-winning spells for India in the white jersey for the past few months. With no Bumrah or Shami in the squad, he’ll be a tempting option to team up with Bhuvneshwar with the new ball.
The 25-year-old right-arm medium pacer Prasidh Krishna has got his maiden India call-up, courtesy of his Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 endeavours. With the unavailability of India’s go-to pacers, it will be interesting to see if he can find a place in the playing XI.
Krunal Pandya‘s Vijay Hazare Trophy performance has bought him his place in the ODI squad again. We might see him on the field again as Jadeja is still in rehab, and comparatively, Sundar is less experienced than him in the ODIs.
Shubhman Gill is back in the squad who doesn’t want to see him bat again with Virat. This might be his opportunity at redemption after his recent failures in Tests. Along with him, Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar, Shardul, and the pair of Kul-Cha are back as well.
To our disappointments, Bumrah, Shami, and Jadeja are still unavailable for this series.
