New Zealand Announce Squad For The T2OI Series Against India

Ross Taylor, who guided New Zealand to a handsome victory with Tom Latham in the second ODI against Indiam has found himself a place in the T20 Squad. Ross Taylor, the 33 year old batsman has not got a T20 game since March 2016 but know he is all set to return to the T20 brigade of the Blackcaps.

What made his return possible?

One’s loss is another person’s gain and this is exactly what happened. Todd Astle who was all set to make his international debut in the ODI series itself got ruled out with a severe groin injury. As Todd Astle has been sidelined by his injury it paved way Ross Taylor’s long awaited comeback.

Ross Taylor who played his last T20 in 2016 averages only 23.26 in the T20s. In 73 T20 internationals Ross Taylor has only made 1256 runs with a higher score of 63 and this indicates as to why he was kept out since 2016. His numbers aren’t even close to being called decent.

After Ross Taylor was retained the coach of the New Zealand cricket team said, “Ross is in good form so he gives another option through the middle”

Kiwis were handed over with a series defeat by India at Kanpur and now India would be looking forward to recreate the scenario in the 3 Match T20 series as well and they surely wouldn’t bother if Ross Taylor plays or Astle.
