IND vs AUS: Trendulkar Trolled Umpire Nitin Menon On Twitter

IND vs AUS: The Day 2 of the ongoing Nagpur Test, the first of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, also belong to the hosts, India, who finished with a big lead of 144 runs with still 3 wickets in hand, and with half-centurions Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel at the crease.

Having bowled Australia out for 177 on Day 1, India started the day with a trail of 100 runs, which skipper Rohit Sharma helped chiseled down and take lead with his 9th Test century – and his first against Australia in Test cricket – but lost batting partners at the other end.

Australia smelled a chance yet in the game when India were 240/7, but an 81-run unbeaten partnership between Jadeja and Axar has now put the game all but out of Australia’s reach and an Indian victory is the likely result.

Meanwhile, the umpires have been under the scanner in this Test match with two decisions – one from each bowling team – reversed.

Umpire Nitin Menon got trolled from the renowned Twitter account “Trendulkar” which is a parody account of Sachin Tendulkar, after Australia overturned Menon’s decision of their lbw appeal of R Ashwin during the first session on Day 2.

A delivery from off-spinner Todd Murphy, from around the wicket, beat Ashwin on his front foot defence and hit him on his pad. Australia went up with the lbw appeal, but Nitin Menon denied it.

Pat Cummins went for the DRS review, and on the referral Ashwin was found out as the ball was in the line on pitching and hitting his pads, and didn’t turn enough, as perhaps Menon would have though.

Trendulkar joked about Nitin Menon’s incorrect decision

Nitin Menon was told to reverse his decision and give Ashwin out. Although Menon, a senior umpire, has been generally spot on with his calls, this time he didn’t read the turn correctly.

Seeing this, Trendulkar, who has a whopping 1.2 million Twitter followers, made a funny tweet trolling Nitin Menon.

“Another day, another incorrect decision by umpire Nitin Menon,” Trendulkar tweeted.

On Day 1, India had a decision reversed when Mohammed Siraj had Usman Khawaja lbw but was not given out on the field. Rohit Sharma challenged it and got the Khawaja out.

He got trolled for some other reasons as well. See here:
