Virat Kohli is arguably the greatest-ever batsman, and perhaps the best all-format batsman to have dominated the game over a long-ish period of time.
The 35-year-old Virat Kohli has hit 74 international centuries- second only to Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 100 hundreds – and has amassed 25047 international runs – the sixth highest of all-time. His average of 53.40 is better than the 5 batters who have scored more runs than him; his achievements and records needed to be given even more respect considering he’s been batting in perhaps historically the toughest period of batting in Test cricket that has been since 2018.
Anyway, while Virat Kohli is known for his gorgeous cover drives, his sweetly timed flick shots, his big hundreds in the longer formats, and his numerous match-winning knocks all have included some sensational sixes too.
In all, Virat Kohli has hit 278 sixes for India, so far.

We show you a compilation of Virat Kohli’s best sixes:
First, there is no doubt of this one:
“The shot of an emperor”; 19.5 vs Haris Rauf; packed MCG stadium; against Pakistan; high pressure run-chase. There is nothing more to say.
Here, enjoy what is not just Virat Kohli’s greatest six, but the most unbelievable shot in cricket history:

And now onto Virat Kohli’s other sixes, some of which will make your jaws drop:
A wild slog to Daniel Sams
Kohli moves across the off-stump and launched left-arm pacer Daniel Sams over the deep mid-wicket boundary, which is quite a big one considering the ground is in Australia.
A whiplash to Plunkett
To the lanky England pacer Liam Plunkett, Kohli judged the line and length quickly – full outside off – and brought up a vintage whiplash shot, using his bottom-hand power to send it over the deep cover boundary.
Step down and down goes Sean Abbott
Kohli skipped down the pitch and onto the leg-side to make room for himself to hammer pacer Sean Abbott over his head for a delicious maximum.

Once again to Daniel Sams
In order to up the ante, Kohli went further away from the leg-stump, but Sams followed him with a short ball. But, Kohli, the batting maestro, adjusted to the short length swiftly and pulled it over fine leg for a maximum.
Kohli pulls Cummins
This time to Pat Cummins, Virat Kohli played a sensational pull shot. Again, despite the extra bounce of the Australian pitch, Kohli was right on top of the short-pitched ball and pulled it spectacularly for a six.
Young Virat Kohli smashed Samit Patel
A young Virat Kohli took down the senior England spinner Samit Patel. Being the daredevil that he’s always been, against the unfavorable match-up as Samit turned the ball away from Kohli, the Indian batter stepped down and tonked the spinner for a six straight down the ground.
Kohli’s tears into Faulkner
This one is from Virat Kohli’s epic knock against Australia in Mohali in the 2016 T20 WC, in a virtual quarter-final game. In the high-pressure run-chase, Kohli stepped up again and he did it in some style against Australia’s potent weapon James Faulkner.
Reading Faulkner’s slower ball and despite being disguised by it after dancing down the pitch, Kohli held his shape well and lofted it over long-off for a terrific six.
Kohli stuns everyone with a paddle sweep six
This was a unusual shot attempt from Kohli because he likes to play more orthodox shots. But seeing the fine leg up in the circle, Kohli, facing fast bowler Andrew Tye, moved way across his off-stump, got low on one knee and swept Tye for an unbelievable sixer over fine leg. The crowd and commentators in utter disbelief.
Six over cover off Umar Gul
In his thunderous 183* innings as an up-and-coming youngster, Kohli lit up the Dhaka stadium when he uppishly drove veteran Pakistani speedster Umar Gul for an astonishing six over deep cover boundary.
Flick off Starc
Starc was breathing fire, sending down thunderbolts. But Kohli was ready with his sword. And when a fast ball came on his pads, Kohli was in position and had a cool temperament to nonchalantly flick it for a six over deep square leg. Just a flick – for a six!
