Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s on field chemistry is one beautiful highlight of Indian cricket. MS Dhoni’s cricketing intellect is something everyone admires and if a captain can win you two World Cups you got to admire his intellect beyond doubt.
Virat Kohli too is all praises for Dhoni’s knowledge of cricket. The new captain is never shy of looking up to the former skipper for advice and this describes the equation between the two. The skipper who just turned 29 likes to learn from a former skipper who’s amply experienced and Virat is very honest about.
Virat Kohli blindly trusts Mahi In an interview on the Gaurav in the famous show ‘Breakfast with Champions’ Kohli said that he didn’t find any change in Mahi after he stepped down from captaincy.
He said that he would agree to Dhoni’s suggestions very often as Dhoni ends up being correct 8-9 times on 10 which is a great percentage. He also talked about how MS Dhoni has nurtured him as a captain. He added that if while running between the wickets Dhoni calls for two then Kohli just goes for it because he know that he will make it.
Taking about the transition in the dressing room and on field and with respect to the team Kohli said:
“The transition went pretty well. I don’t think there’s a problem. Even on field no one realised that there has been a transition,” Virat Kohli said.

Then he further talked about how he still cracks jokes with Dhoni on field just like it used to happen when Mahi was the captain.
He then also expressed great pleasure in the fact that Dhoni is still there in Virat’s early days of captaincy and this helps him in a lot of ways to become a successful captain. He’s very honest about the fact that he likes to learn from MS Dhoni. Kohli on Dhoni’s cricketing expertise Taking about MS Dhoni’s knowledge of the game Kohli said that MS Dhoni is the best cricketing brain he ever came across.
“MS and I have a great understanding. For example, if we’re running between the wickets and he says two, I simply close my eyes and run. Because I’m so sure of his judgment, I know that I’ll make it,” Virat Kohli added.
He admired Dhoni for his sense of planning and at the same time also confessed that there are times when he wants to follow his own instincts but still Dhoni’s presence helps him a lot. It’s wonderful to see such a warm relationship between the present day captain and the former skipper.
“I don’t think I’ve come across a better cricketing brain just in terms of planning; knowing what’s happening in the game and can be done… Sometimes I like to follow my own instinct as well but if I ask him something eight or nine times out of 10, he tells you things that always work. So it’s a blessing to have him,” Virat Kohli concluded.
