Virat Kohli in the first One Day International (ODI) of the on-going series with New Zealand smashed yet another ton. But this time even though the ton went in a losing cause, it was about another great milestone Kohli reached.
Kohli went passed the former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting in the tally of most ODI hundreds to take the second spot after Master Blaster. But tell you what this wasn’t the talking point of the match! The one who took all the limelight at Wankhede in the first One Day International was a 14 year Aayush Zimre.
You don’t very often see Kohli being overshadowed but that is exactly what happened at the Wankhede that day. Aayush earned all eyes when he took a stunner of a catch single handedly beyond the ropes. When Kohli was proceeding towards another century Ayush who was one of the official ball boys caught a spectacular catch when Kohli sent the ball to trespass the stands.
Ayush is a budding cricketer and is one of the probables of the Under 16 Mumbai side. Ayush is a left arm spinner and a middle order batsman. He represented Mumbai in an Under 14 tournament last year and claimed 19 wickets.
It was all claps for Aayush
As Aayush took a stunning catch beyond the ropes compliments came brimming his way. He received a compliment from none other but Kohli himself and he says, “His was the best compliment for me”
Later he was also appreciated by New Zealand’s Munro, Tom Bruce and also a member of supper staff and of course the crowd. Must have been a special day for Ayush and he would have felt so proud of himself. Always a special feeling, isn’t it? Aayush’s father Nishigandh was extremely happy and proud of his son and why wouldn’t he be.
“His (Virat Kohli) was the best compliment for me. New Zealand’s Munro, Tom Bruce and a member of the support staff along with the spectators congratulated me too,” he said. Aayush’s father Nishigandh was happy. “During his last match as a ball boy, only three to four balls came his way. I appreciate the fact that he kept his cricketing basics in mind and took this catch which was out of reach,” said Nishigandh.
