Virat Kohli hilariously trolled Cheteshwar Pujara for his slow running between the wickets during a show with AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel “The 360 SHOW.”
With less than two weeks to go for the IPL 2023, which starts on March 31, the two RCB stars got together for a video show on YouTube. They talked on various topics including telling the best and worst running partners they had in their careers.
While for the best, Virat Kohli was split between AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni, saying his understanding with both of them is perfect, the 34-year-old former India skipper was certain that Pujji is the worst running partner he’s had in his career.
He remembered a game from the 2018 tour of South Africa when Pujji attained an embarrassing record of getting run-out in both the innings of a Test match.
“Controversial one. Pujara said Kohli, adding, “It was a Centurion Test match on the tour of 2018. He was run out in both the innings.”
“Pujara was run-out in the first innings of Centurion Test and I said, ‘Its OK’, such things happen in cricket; He played a shot in the second innings and called Parthiv Patel for 3rd run, Pujara himself was running towards the danger end and he got run-out again and that too by a big margin,” Kohli said, leaving ABD in splits.
A batting legend, Pujji has had his issues with running between the wicket and not just with Kohli, but with other batting partners as well. Pujara is a slow because of the knee injuries and the operations he’s had on them.
Virat Kohli talked with reverence when speaking of Dhoni and AB de Villiers as his running partners.
“Of course, it’s not even a question. I’ve been asked this question before. AB has been by far the fastest I’ve run with between wickets. The only other guy who I had so much coordination and understanding with was MS (Dhoni),” Kohli said.
“Now, I don’t know the speeds matching between the wickets. But him (AB) and MS, I would not even have to call. We hardly called.”
