Former RCB captain Virat Kohli turned the clock around and was at his vintage best in the powerplay against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), electrifying the crowd at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on a Monday evening.
Virat Kohli took on the likes of Avesh Khan and Krunal Pandya before he tore into England’s fastest bowler Mark Wood for a pair of four and a sensational six.
Having taken 30* off 21 balls in the first 5 overs, with Royal Challengers Bangalore score being 42/0, Bangalpore’s star batter knew he had to get a couple of more boundaries to completely own the powerplay, upon which Bangalore Based Franchise can build their innings for a big total on what was a flat deck.
In his line was the fiery, Purple Cap holder Mark Wood, who had taken 8 wickets in only 2 matches before missing the third game due to flu. The King didn’t care as he smashed Wood for a four back over the bowler’s head and then followed it up with a stunning pull shot sixer off a short delivery that clocked almost 149 KPH.
Standing still on his crease, Virat picked up the length of the back of length short ball from Wood, opened up his hips, and swung the bat with pure timing and strong power to send the ball over the mid-wicket boundary, into the dancing fans.

Virat Kohli’s 42 runs in the powerplay were the most he’s ever scored in the powerplay in a T20 game. After that, though, he slowed down against the LSG spinners before eventually getting out by Amit Mishra for 61 runs off 44 balls, ending a big opening partnership of 96 runs in 11.3 overs.
