Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson disappointed his fans as he failed to make it big with the bat in the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Samson had the perfect chance to perform in front of the Chepauk crowd when he walked out to bat in front of Dhoni’s yellow brigade.

Openers Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal gave a perfect start to the innings. Samson walked out to bat after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed cheaply by Tushar Deshpande.

Royals were at 88 for 2 in the 9th over when Samson joined Buttler in the middle. However, he couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and was dismissed for a golden duck. Samson walked back to the pavilion without even opening his account.

This was Samson’s second-successive duck in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. He was dismissed on a four-ball duck against Delhi Capitals in RR’s last match.

This time, he became the victim of Ravindra Jadeja, who breached his defense in the ninth over. Jadeja bowled the delivery full and quick, drifting between the middle and leg stump. Samson stepped on the back foot and tried to play a block shot but he missed the line and Jadeja eventually succeeded in dismissing the RR captain.

Samson’s wicket was Jadeja’s second in the over as he had previously dismissed Devdutt Padikkal (38 off 26 balls). With this, Jadeja also reached a key T20 feat with the dismissal of Samson. Jadeja completed 200 wickets in the shortest format of the game by getting rid of Samson.
