Punjab Kings’ Shahrukh Khan was in the action heavily in the field and took 3 brilliant catches near the boundary line in Lucknow Super Giants’ innings on Saturday evening at the Ekana stadium, Lucknow.

The first of those 3 catches was of batsman Krunal Pandya in the 15th over of LSG’s innings, of the bowling of Kagiso Rabada.

It was a terrific, calm catch near the boundary line – those which we have been seeing frequently in the past decade where the fielder catches the ball, but throws it in the air, goes past the boundary line and gets back in again to complete the catch.

It was back-of-length delivery outside off-stump from Rabada which Krunal pulled. He didn’t got it off the middle of the bat, but would have backed himself to clear the short boundary. He almost did, but not until an interception made by Shahrukh at deep mid-wicket position.

Shahrukh Khan jumped and caught the ball over his head. But realizing that his momentum would take him over the boundary, he threw the ball in the air. After taking just one step across the boundary line, he got back in the playing field and completed the catch. This superb fielding effort from Shahrukh was applauded by all, including PBKS interim skipper Sam Curran.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul hit another IPL fifty against his former team, Punjab Kings. The LSG captain scored 74 runs off 56 balls on a pitch that wasn’t easy to bat on. He didn’t get a lot of support from other players with Kyle Mayers, 29 runs, being the second highest score of LSG’s innings that totaled to 159/8. Sam Curran, the PBKS captain for the night, took 3 wickets.
