IPL 2017: RPS name Imran Tahir as Mitchell Marsh’s replacement

World’s number 1 ODI and T20 bowler Imran Tahir has been roped in as Mitchell Marsh by Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Marsh got injured during the second match of the ongoing Test series between India and Australia and he has been advised to take rest away from the game for the next 2 months or so.

Imran Tahir, who has taken 54 wickets in 31 T20Is, was a part of Delhi Daredevils franchise in the last season and he was their joint-highest wicket taker of the season along with Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile. In his IPL career, Tahir has picked a total of 29 wickets in 20 IPL games. He has a average of 21.48 and has one 4-wicket haul.

Marsh, after injuring his shoulder, was ruled out of the IPL subsequently, with the injury ruling him out for most of the summer. The all-rounder had to leave last year’s IPL midway as well, after sustaining a side strain.

Even though Tahir could find no takers in the auction, he was part of the registered available player pool list (RAPPL). When Delhi Daredevils released Tahir and no IPL franchise showed interest in him, it came as a big shock as he was the number 1 T20I bowler in the world.
