IPL 2017: Glenn Maxwell will lead KXIP in IPL 10

Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been named Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain for the tenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2017). Maxwell will over KXIP’s captaincy from Murali Vijay, who led them in the second half of the ninth season. This news was confirmed by KXIP on 10th March (Friday).

KXIP had a forgettable season last time as they finished  at the bottom of the table last season with just four wins from 14 games. South Africa’s swashbuckling batsman David Miller was given the duty of leading the side in the beginning but he was relieved mid-way through the season.

Glenn Maxwell joined KXIP in 2014 and he was their star player in that season. The Aussie all-rounder scored 552 runs at an average of 34.5 and a strike rate of 187.75.

However, his form has dipped in the last two seasons. In 22 matches that he played for KXIP, Maxwell scored145 and 179 runs, in addition to just two wickets.
