The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the biggest home of T20 leagues where talent meets opportunity. However, in the IPL 2023, a few of the most talented, versatile, and in-form overseas stars are not getting a chance to showcase their might.
In fact, this has also puzzled the fans that these superstars have not played a single game in the tournament, until the time of writing.
Here are 3 big name overseas cricketers who have not got a single opportunity in the IPL 2023:

Joe Root
The Indian Premier League 2023 is the maiden IPL season for Joe Root. But it seems like he will return to England without a single hit in the middle of a match as the former England Test captain has not played in a single match out of the 8 Rajasthan Royals have played so far in this season.
Root was bought for INR 1 crore in the Indian Premier League 2023 auction by the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals.
Why has Joe Root not got any opportunity yet in IPL 2023 for RR?
Two of the overseas slots in Rajasthan’s XI have been fixed by Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer, while three players – Boult, Holder, and Zampa – have featured in the other two overseas slots. Hence, Root has not got a single chance in the Indian Premier League 2023 yet.
Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock will feel really hard done by because he hasn’t played any match in the Indian League 2023. De Kock missed the first two matches of the season for the Lucknow Super Giants due to South Africa duty. In De Kock’s absence, Kyle Mayers grabbed the opportunity and hit two fifties in the first two matches.

Mayers hit another fifty in LSG’s latest match, against Punjab, and this means de Kock’s time on the bench is set to extend with the other overseas players being the in-form Stoinis, Pooran and a pacer in Naveen-ul-Haq or Mark Wood.
Matthew Wade
It was understood that Kane Williamson started the IPL 2023 for Gujarat Titans ahead of Wade. But after Williamson’s injury, Wade, even for a moment, the thought would have gone across his mind that the Titans would play him after Kane got injured while fielding in the first match of the season.
However, GT then bolstered their bowling by playing Alzarri Joseph, Josh Little, and now Noor Ahmad, despite Wade being retained after being part of the side that won the title last season.
