“If Riyan Parag Can Get So Many Chances, Why Not Joe Root?” : It has been an amazing season for the Rajasthan Royals so far in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. After making it to the finals in the previous season, the Royals have continued with their brilliant form and are currently leading the IPL 2023 points table. Their openers have been sensational, captain Sanju Samson returning to his form, and Shimraon Hetmyer playing the finisher role.

However, the young all-rounder Riyan Parag has been struggling badly with his form. For all his form in the domestic circuit, Riyan has failed to hit the ground running in the Indian Premier League. He continues to struggle in the ongoing season.

In the six matches Riyan Parag has played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023 he has got out in single digits and has come up with scores of 20 and 15 runs twice. So far, he has only managed to score 54 runs in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League at a dismal average of 13.50.

While Parag continues to get a longer run in the ongoing season, on the other hand, a player like Joe Root it yet to play a match in the IPL as he has warmed the bench in all six games.

Root, who registered for the first time in the IPL 2023, was picked by Rajasthan Royals for his base price of INR 1 crore. While he has been enjoying his time in India, however, he is yet to play a game in the ongoing season.

The fans are not impressed with the RR team management with Rajasthan’s tactics and are slamming the team for giving a longer run to Parag. Among many, a fan came up with a hilarious tweet where he used satire to take a dig at Rajasthan Royals. The fan wrote:

“I have been writing letters to Sangakkara, pleading with him to include my friend, Joe Root in the team If jhatu cricketers like Riyan Parag can get numerous opportunities, then my friend, Root also deserves one – Jos Buttler”

Meanwhile, recently in an interview, Joe Root said that he’s making himself ready whenever the opportunity comes. He added that it’s good learning for him. He said:

“I was fully expecting, coming into the Rajasthan Royals as there’s not a lot of movement in the squad, coming into the start of the season. I knew it would be hard work to get into this team. I’m working hard and trying to make sure I’m ready when an opportunity arises and put in a performance if that is the case. But it’s been great to see the guys about it, staying at a different environment and keep looking to learn and develop as a player as well.”

He added: “It makes for a very good spectacle and you want to make sure to be on the right side of the close games. So far, more often than not we’ve managed to do that and hopefully, we can continue to do so. It’s been great to be a part of it. Hopefully, at some point, I can force my way in and do something on the field.”
