Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler’s chariot that was approaching toward his first hundred of the IPL 2023 season was stopped by a superb yorker from SRH seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar when the two met in Jaipur on Sunday.
Buttler had smoked 95 runs off 58 balls and, with 10 balls left in the innings, was looking set for his maiden three-figure score of the season. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a stunning yorker to have the RR opener dismissed lbw.
On the third ball of the 19th over of RR’s innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a yorker right at the base of the stumps. Buttler had moved across a bit of the off-stump in order to access the legside, but missed his flick shot as he was a bit late on playing the yorker.
The ball hit Buttler on the full and while Bhuvneshwar Kumar went up in a huge appeal, the umpire didn’t gave it out. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was certain in mind about taking a review and signaled the same to his captain, Aiden Markram.
Upon review, it was learned that the ball would be “Hitting” the base of the leg-stump and Buttler was declared out, the original decision overturned.

This was the only wicket that Bhuvneshwar took in the match and leaked 44 runs.
Buttler’s 95 (59) and Sanju Samson’s belligerent knock of 66 off 38 balls that had followed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 35 off 18 blitz propelled RR’s total to 214/2.
After his terrific innings, Jos Buttler said: “Always want to start fast. But haven’t been feeling in good rhythm so tried to bat without any ego. Something I’ve learned over the last few years is you can always soak up pressure and catch up later on.”
