Latest Playoffs Qualification Scenarios Of All 10 Teams In IPL 2023

IPL 2023

The IPL 2023 is into its business end of the tournament with 9 out of 10 teams (except SRH) having played at least 11 matches each. 57 matches have been concluded, as of May 12th. The league phase will end on May 21 and the race for Top 4 and top 2 is a heated one currently

Here are the playoffs qualification scenario of each team in IPL 2023:

Gujarat Titans – 12 matches, 8 wins, 16 points

GT are running at the top of the table again this season and with 16 points, Hardik’s team has one foot in the playoffs already. They are now aiming for a top-of-the-table finish. They are all but certain to qualify for playoffs. They also have a healthy NRR.

Chennai Super Kings – 12 matches, 7 wins, 1 washout, 15 points

With 15 points in the bag and with 2 matches still left, CSK have almost reached the playoffs.  They will now be eyeing a top 2 finish.

Mumbai Indians – 12 matches, 7 wins, 14 points

If MI win both their remaining matches, they will certainly reach the playoffs. But if they win one and lose one, they might need a better NRR to get through because RCB and PBKS can also finish at 16 points.

Mumbai Indians have got on a roll and have won 4 of their last 5 matches and their latest triumph came over table leaders Gujarat. With two games in hand, they are placed nicely for a playoff spot.

Rajasthan Royals – 12 matches, 6 wins, 12 points

If RR win both their remaining matches, they will qualify for playoffs on 16 points because of their terrific NRR. One loss out of two matches will take matters out of their hands and they will need other results to go in their favor.

After losing 5 matches out of 6 in the middle of the season, the Royals have recently bounced back with a thumping win over KKR.

Lucknow Super Giants – 11 matches, 5 wins, 1 washout, 11 points

LSG need to win at least 2 matches to make a strong case for a playoff spot. 3 wins in 3 games will certainly get them a playoff berth. If they finish at 13 points or even 15, they might not make into the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – 11 matches, 5 wins, 10 points

Because of the massive dent to their NRR after the big loss to Mumbai, RCB now need to win all their 3 remaining matches to reach 16 points and qualify for the playoffs. They also need to boost their NRR and hope for a few other results to go their way.

Kolkata Knight Riders – 12 matches, 5 wins, 10 points

After the loss to RR, KKR are all but out of the playoff race, clinging on only mathematically. They can at maximum reach to 14 points, which are unlikely to be enough to end up in playoffs.

Punjab Kings – 11 matches, 5 wins, 10 points

Given their poor NRR, PBKS must need to win their remaining 3 matches by big margins to make a playoff case.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – 10 matches, 4 wins, 8 points

SRH need to win their remaining 4 matches to stay alive in the playoff race. And they need to win by healthy margins because of their poor NRR.

Delhi Capitals – 11 matches, 4 wins, 8 points.

With 8 points in hand and 3 matches left, DC are the first team to be virtually knocked out of the playoff race as they can only get to a maximum of 14 points.
