Anand Mahindra Hails “Run Machine” Shubman Gill On Twitter

Indian business tycoon Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra Group, heaped laurels in praise of 23-year-old Shubman Gill following the latter’s century against Mumbai Indians on Friday at the Narendra Modi stadium.

In the knockout match that is the Qualifier 2, Shubman brought out his best IPL knock and cracked 129 runs off 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 10 sixes. He ran a rampage over Mumbai Indians’ new shining star, Akash Madhwal who had taken a 5-for in his last match; Madhwal had also bowled Gill the last time these two met. Today, the Gujarat Titans opener was on song and didn’t spare any MI bowler.

Gill’s heroics helped GT post a gigantic total of 233 in Qualifier 2, a victory in which will take them to the final against CSK.

Anand Mahindra, who was already a big fan of Gill and had gifted him a Thar car for his 91-run knock in that epic victory over Australia at the Gabba in 2021, wrote a special tweet for the young Indian sensation.

“This man is the new Indian run-machine. That Thar we gifted him must be purring (growling?) with pride every time he puts his pedal to the metal,” Anand Mahindra tweeted.

Gill brought up his century off 49 balls as GT raced near to 150 inside 15 overs. He was aggressive right from the start of his innings.

Gill got a reprieve when he was on the score of 30 when Tim David dropped a difficult chance – but one he could have taken – in the 6th over. After that, Gill even became more aggressive and reached to his century in 49 balls. He continued on that beast mode to crack 2 two sixes and a four right after getting to three figures.

The 23-year-old became only the 4th batsman in the history of the IPL to record over 800 runs in the final.
