Indian captain Rohit Sharma suffered an injury scare ahead of the opening day of the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval in London.

On Tuesday, during the optional practice session, the Indian captain was struck on his right thumb, and as per the pictures, which were shared on social media by various journalists, he could be seen applying tape to his hand.

Following the injury, Rohit left the session and although he was out in the middle after some time, he did not take part in the drills.

Will The Injured Rohit Sharma Miss The WTC Final?

Well, no official confirmation or update has come from the BCCI. There are speculations and rumors about his non-participation in the summit clash on the basis of just one picture.

An official update from the BCCI about Rohit Sharma’s availability for the much-awaited fixture should be out in the next few hours as the Indian cricket team is still having a net session at The Oval. We would like to request the fans to wait for an official confirmation by the BCCI and to not speculate further.

Rohit on his legacy

Earlier, during the pre-match press conference, Rohit, who is all set to lead the Indian cricket team for the first time in an ICC final clash, was asked about the legacy he would like to leave as captain. Responding to this, he said:

“Whether it’s me or someone else, even the guys before, their role was to take Indian cricket forward and win as many games, as many championships as possible. For me also, it will be the same. I want to win games, I want to win championships. That is what you play for,”

He added:

“And yeah, it will be nice to win some titles, win some extraordinary series.

But yeah, like having said that, I genuinely feel that we don’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves by overthinking about these kind of stuff.”

“As a captain, like I said, every captain wants to win championships, So I’ll be no different. I also want to win championship. And that’s what the sport is all about, winning championship. So for me, it will be nice if I can win one or two championships, as in when I decide to move on from this job.”
