Star Sports Insulted Rohit Sharma In Asia Cup 2023 Poster

Fans of Rohit Sharma are really unhappy with the poster released by broadcaster Star Sports for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

The continental Asia Cup 2023 tournament will be played from August 31 and September 17. The tournament will be played in a hybrid-model where 4 matches will be held in Pakistan, the official hosts of the tournament, before the caravan shifts to Sri Lanka for the remaining 9 matches.

Star Sports will telecast the Asia Cup 2023 in India.

Rohit Sharma

In its poster released recently, Star Sports put Virat Kohli as the face of the Indian team and not Rohit Sharma, who is India’s current all-format captain. In its poster, Star Sports even pitted India against all other teams and even excluded Nepal, who will playing their first Asia Cup tournament.

Virat Kohli may be a bigger brand than Rohit Sharma, but not having the Indian captain as the premier figure in its poster, Star Sports has offended the fans of Rohit Sharma. Fans are claiming that with this poster, the broadcaster has insulted the Indian skipper.

“Rohit Sharma Is Captain Hardik Pandya Is Vice Captain Still Star Sports Has Put Virat Kohli Picture In Front

Does This Clearly Mean , Virat Kohli Is Biggest Brand In Indian Cricket Today As Well ???” said one senior Indian journalist.

Fans of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli often find a way of criticizing and trolling the other group’s idol. And this activity by Star Sports has further fuelled this battle on social media.

Meanwhile, the Asia Cup was given to Pakistan to host the tournament. However, India’s declining of travelling to Pakistan has forced the ACC to use this hybrid-model. This will be the first time since 2008 that matches of a multi-nation tournament will be staged in Pakistan.

“I am elated that our hybrid version for the ACC Asia Cup 2023 has been accepted,” Najam Sethi, chair of the PCB management committee, said. “This means the PCB will remain as the event host and stage matches in Pakistan with Sri Lanka as the neutral venue, which was required due to the Indian cricket team’s inability to travel to Pakistan.

“Our passionate fans would have loved to see the India cricket team in action in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years, but we understand the BCCI’s position. Like the PCB, the BCCI also requires government approval and clearance before crossing borders.
