It is still now confirmed why the announcement did not happen just after the WTC Final. According to the draft presented by the BCCI to the ICC, the ICC World Cup 2023 is likely to start on October 15 and the high-voltage India vs Pakistan game would be played on October 15th in Ahmedabad.

As per reports, a senior official at BCCI added: “The discussion with the ICC is going on and we’ll soon announce the dates and venues.”

Going by the reports, Pakistan Cricket Board is unhappy with the schedule as they don’t want to play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against India. As per the reports, the PCB brought up the matter when ICC CEO Geoff Alardice and Chairman Greg Barclay visited Lahore last month.

Talking about the ICC World Cup 2023, the marquee tournament will feature 10 teams, just like the previous edition. Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and host nation India are already in the final. Meanwhile, the teams are locking horns at the ICC World Cup 2023 Cricket Qualifier for the remaining two spots in the tournament.

As many as 12 cities have been shortlisted as the venues to host the 2023 World Cup. These 12 venues are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Raipur, and Rajkot.
