5 Young Indian Stars Who Have Been Ruled Out Of World Cup 2023– The BCCI announced the men’s and women’s squad for the Asian Games 2023. Cricket will be played in the Asian Games 2023 from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format.
While the India women’s squad is at their full strength, the men’s team is a second-string squad, which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. The BCCI are to send a second-string men’s squad because the first-choice players will be preparing and taking part in the World Cup 2023 which will start from October 5.
What this also means is that those players who have been called up for the Asian Games squad are indirectly not in the plans of the selectors and the management for World Cup 2023.
Here are 5 Indian players who will not be picked for World Cup 2023 after getting selected for Asian Games:

Yashasvi Jaiswal
The selectors and management have decided that Yashasvi Jaiswal is and won’t be in part of their plans for World Cup 2023. While India’s openers in the ODI team are fixed at Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, there is no direct indication of who is the backup opener in case either Rohit or Gill is injured.
This perhaps also means that India will back Ishan Kishan, who has been poor in ODIs in 2023, as the backup opener. Jaiswal, who recently hammered a century on his Test debut, is not seen as an ODI backup opener yet, despite his immense success in domestic cricket and in the IPL, where he showed his ultra-aggressive batting at the top of the order.
Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh not getting an India call-up for West Indies series was a surprise, because many fans thought Rinku should get a chance in the middle-order after his heroics in the IPL 2023 – where fans believe he was the best Indian finisher – and more so in the absence of Rishabh Pant.
Pant will not be fit in time for World Cup 2023. So it would have been a judicious call to rope in Rinku Singh as a finisher in the upcoming ODI matches and see his caliber at the international level.
Washington Sundar
Even as Washington Sundar has been plagued with injuries in the past couple of years, he’s still a quality all-rounder. Importantly, he’s the only young off-spinner who’s played white-ball cricket for India in recent years.
But, the management and selectors seem to not have enough trust in Sundar at the moment. He’s selected for the Asian Games. But does this mean that India may recall R Ashwin for the ODI matches coming up and can R Ashwin get into the World Cup squad?
Arshdeep Singh
The selectors not giving Arshdeep Singh chances in ODI matches have been met with criticism. Arshdeep has proven himself at the international level in T20Is and has been a gun bowler in T20 format for India and in the IPL.
He played only 3 ODIs last year, and failed to pick a single wicket in 2 bowling innings. But, while the selectors have picked Umran Malik in ODI squad to face West Indies, they omitted Arshdeep, who’s fared much better than Umran in the IPL and in T20Is.
Arshdeep even led India’s bowling attack in T20 WC in Australia, showing his brilliant temperament. But the selectors have not shown faith in him in ODIs, despite him bringing the much-needed left-arm angle and brilliancy at death overs.
Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar’s is an interesting case, and one puzzling the fans. Mukesh Kumar is in the ODI squad to face West Indies and seemingly is in plans of the management and selectors for World Cup 2023. But he’s also selected in the Asian Games squad. This is a very much puzzling for the fans that if the selectors don’t see Mukesh in contention for the World Cup squad, then why is he in the ODI squad to face West Indies?
