Mumbai Indians New York captain Kieron Pollard, who is known for his flamboyant attitude on and off the field, stole all the attention on the internet with his unique celebration in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament. Pollard came up with a hilarious celebration with a run and a quirky pose after the fall of Andre Russell’s wicket during the game against the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR).
MI New York registered their first win of the ongoing season by defeating LA Knight Riders with a massive 105-run margin at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Sunday, July 16. The game saw the LA Knight Riders post the lowest total of the tournament so far as they were bundled out at the score of 50 in 13.5 overs, courtesy of MINY’s all-around performance.
Kieron Pollard’s Unique Celebration Has Gone Viral On The Internet
However, what stole all the limelight was an all-new celebration by MINY’s captain Kieron Pollard. The incident took place in the 10th over of the Los Angeles Knight Riders’ innings when Pollard dismissed Andre Russell. Pollard bowled a short ball outside off-stump, resulting in Russell attempting a pull shot but he ended up edging it to the wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran.
Though, initially the on-field umpire gave the decision in Russell’s favor but Pollard decided to take the DRS and the third umpire overturned the decision. This led to Pollard and his teammates celebrating the dismissal.

Meanwhile, speaking at the post-match presentation, Kieron Pollard expressed his dissatisfaction with the batting performance of his team in the first half of their innings. He said:
“I am happy with the end result but not with our batting performance. Losing 5 wickets in the first 10 overs is not acceptable in franchise cricket. This is a new tournament and some of the guys are playing at this level for the first time, you have to give them time. The batters have to take time in the powerplay and assess the conditions,”
Pollard also praised the performance of his bowlers and said that they want to carry the momentum into the next game. He said:
“This is done and dusted, we have to come back tomorrow and keep this going. The bowlers stuck to their guns after the first game and delivered,”
