India batsman Prithvi Shaw smashed a record-breaking double century on Wednesday in just his third match of the One-Day Cup in England.
Batting for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup against Somerset, Prithvi Shaw played a sensational knock of 244 runs off just 153 balls ladened with 28 fours and 11 sixes in Northampton. His belligerent double-century took his side’s total to 415 and won them the game by 87 runs.
Shaw created and broke plenty of records with his marauding double century. His 244 is now the highest-ever score in Northamptonshire’s List A cricket and the sixth-highest score in List A history. He surpassed his previous best List-A score of 227 which he had scored for Mumbai against Puducherry at Jaipur in 2021 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He also broke Ben Duckett’s 220* for England Lions vs Sri Lanka A in 2016 to register the second-highest ever List A score made in England. Only Alistair Brown with 268 for Surrey vs Glamorgan at the Oval in 2002 has scored more in England.
It was a largely a chanceless innings from the 23-year-old Mumbai and Delhi Capitals batsman. This was Prithvi Shaw’s second List-A double hundred. Only Rohit Sharma has three double centuries in List-A cricket. He’s only the second Indian after Rohit to have multiple double-hundreds in List-A cricket; Ali Brown and Travis Head also have two each.
This was Shaw’s 9th List-A ton and his first in the 50-over format for over two years. In his 56 matches List-A career, Shaw has ransacked over 2900 runs with 9 centuries and 11 fifties, including two double tons.
Entrepreneur bodyshames Prithvi Shaw; fans hit back:

Fans hailed Prithvi Shaw for his sizzling record-breaking knock. However, a few people body-shamed the 23-year-old batsman with images of him from the game circulating. A couple of renowned entrepreneurs made fun of Shaw’s physique and his baldness.
They were put back in their place by fans on social media who gave immense support to Shaw after the trolling of his physical appearance.

Here’s how the fans responded:
Arjun ranatunga or Inzmam ul Haq or even virender sehwag for that matter was never what you would consider “fit”.
All of them were match winners for the respective teams they played for.
On the other hand, we have players with six packs jo bc 4 saal se comeback hi kar rahe…

Also unparalleled is the trolling, bullying, character assassination thru half true stories on a daily basis by 'prominent' people in media that leads a young player into depression which might be the cause of a medical condition https://t.co/tvyZbdZMUk

What’s with shaming a person for their fitness levels or baldness ?
Is this all we are identified with ?
How about skills, achievements & strength of the character ?A person who’s not fit knows it. Fitness is for personal betterment, not for pleasing others. Whether he’s some… https://t.co/oh9dCRrHmp

He can lose weight, tone up buy a hair piece and look young.
You on the other hand you would be an asshole matter what https://t.co/lF7pdLBiuG

What a dimwit you must be to try to diss a guy who's just made 244.
Fitness matters in cricket, and if he drops catches or fields sloppily, one can question whether he's been committed to fitness.
But here he's literally shown the stamina and skill to set a record! https://t.co/o6I70ehl5p

As if we don’t have enough hate & body-shaming from other folks, guys like this perpetuate harmful stereotypes as ‘lols’ from within our own community-Wtf?!😡
Do not be this guy. Body-shaming is not funny.#aapihate comes in many forms & this is one.#StopAAPIHate https://t.co/Chfhvh1xl4

We live in a country where a man's looks get more focus than his skills.
Full respect to Prithvi Shaw that even though he knew that he would be judged for his look, he decided to go on field and score a 129 balls 200 instead of going to gym, build body to look good and impress… pic.twitter.com/FcZPrlI229

Imagine being Prithvi Shaw, finally having a good moment in his life, and then seeing people troll him for how he looks in an unflattering photo.
