Former Indian batter and expert Wasim Jaffer has made a bold claim against Virat Kohli by saying he did not have any special talent but his dedication and hard work make him the star he is today.
Virat Kohli is an inspiration for millions of people around the world. His struggle, his journey, his talent, and exceptional performances have made him a fan favorite around the world. However, the journey wasn’t an easy one but it was his hard work, dedication, and passion for the game that made everything possible for him.
In fact, the Delhi-born batter is considered to be one of the front-runners to go past Tendulkar’s towering feats in ODIs. Currently, he is chasing multiple records that Sachin holds in international cricket and even has the caliber to break many.
Wasim Jaffer On Comparison Between Virat Kohli And Sachin Tendulkar

Meanwhile, comparing the two generational talents, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer hailed Virat Kohli as one of the best players of this generation.
However, he also accepted the fact that comparing him with Sachin Tendulkar is not fair as he dominated the game for over two decades. Jaffer said:
“Sachin was a different player altogether. Other than just being talented, he was hardworking, but I don’t think Virat was very talented. When I saw him in 2008, after the U19 World Cup, I felt he had a lot of flaws in his batting. He was young, wild and expressive, but he wanted to get better. He had the confidence and the self-belief. He had faults in his batting as well. He understood that and changed himself in two years. It shows how hardworking he was. He was aware of the things he had to do to play better cricket. Other than that, I feel Virat played a massive part in boosting the fitness level of Indian cricketers.”
He added: “But Sachin was different. Virat himself agrees with that. Playing international cricket and facing the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Courtney Walsh at the age of 15-16, and playing well against them and continuing to do the same for 24 years and scoring 30,000 runs.. So, Sachin is in a different league, but Virat is definitely the best player of this generation,”
