After the conclusion of the 3-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka, all the focus has now shifted towards the 50-overs format. The ODI series will kickstart on January 10 in Guwahati, and the next two matches will then take place in Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram on January 12 and 15. With this series, the Indian cricket team will start their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, ahead of the series opener, a video of Rohit Sharma has been going viral on the internet, where he can be seen interacting with a young fan at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The incident took place after the press conference when Rohit went outside to meet and greet some of his fans. This is where he met his young fan, who got emotional upon seeing his hero — the Indian captain.
Pulling his cheeks, Rohit said: “Rone ka kya baat hai, chota bacha hai tu,” (Why are you crying, you are just a small kid) Rohit can be heard saying to this fan. “Itna mota mota gaal kar diya” (You have such fat cheeks).
Later, after consoling his young fan, Rohit asked him to smile which he obliged after which both took a selfie. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet.

Earlier, the skipper addressed the media and made it clear that he is not giving up on the shorter format of the game. He said: “Firstly, it is not possible to play back-to-back matches. You need to give them (all format players) enough break. I definitely fall in that as well. We have three T20Is against New Zealand. We will see what happens after IPL. I have not decided to give up the format,”
Rohit last played for team India in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh. He was ruled out of the third ODI, the two-match Test series and also the ongoing three-math T20I series against Sri Lanka at home after he suffered a thumb injury. However, Rohit is all set to return to the scheme of things with the 3-match ODI match series against Sri Lanka starting January 10.
