In India’s Super 4 round match in the Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Colombo, captain Rohit Sharma breached the 10,000 runs landmark in ODI cricket and entered the list of the greats of ODI format, while also breaking a major record of the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
India started off on a positive front once again against Sri Lanka as openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill negated the new ball and started breezily as they did a couple of days ago against Pakistan. The ball wasn’t coming onto the bat today as nicely as it did against Pakistan.
Despite that, Rohit Sharma chose a thunderous shot to bring up his 10,000 runs milestone. He tonked Kasun Rajitha for a sixer down the ground, standing in the pose for a delicious maximum. That brought up his 10,000th ODI run and he got a warm applause from the crowd and the Indian teammates in the stadium.
Rohit Sharma second fastest to 10,000 ODI runs, only Virat Kohli was faster

Rohit Sharma reached his 10,000 ODI runs milestone in his 241st ODI innings. He’s the second-fastest to do so; only Virat Kohli was faster, breaching the milestone mark in only 205th innings.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar conquered the 10,000 runs mountain in 259 ODI innings; the list is followed by Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting.
