Asia Cup 2023 Final: Who Will Win If Rain Washes Out The Game?
The Asia Cup 2023 final between India and Sri Lanka at Colombo’s legendary R. Premadasa Stadium has the cricketing world buzzing with excitement. The unpredictability of the weather, though, casts a shadow of doubt over all the joy and celebration. Fans are worried about what will happen if the weather doesn’t cooperate since rain is predicted for both the regular match day and the reserve day.
Let’s review how India and Sri Lanka got to this monumental fight before diving into the possible result of a rain-affected final. The Indian team cruised through the Super Four stage and reached the final with resounding victories, losing only to Bangladesh. Sri Lanka, on the other side, beat Pakistan and advanced to the Asia Cup final for the eleventh time. With two such strong squads competing, cricket fans around can’t wait for this matchup.
Cricket fans all across the globe are anticipating this matchup, but Sunday’s weather prediction is cloudy at best. An 80% likelihood of precipitation is forecast for the final in Colombo. This raises fears about the contest being interrupted by weather delays.

Asia Cup 2023 Final: Who Will Win If Rain Washes Out The Game?

The Asian Cricket Council sensibly set aside a backup day for the final, allowing for a postponement in the event of inclement weather. This strategy was used earlier in the week when rain postponed the India-Pakistan match. But the prognosis for the subsequent day is much more worrisome, calling for a 90 per cent probability of rain on Monday. If the forecast holds true, then bad weather might even affect the backup day.
So, what happens if both days of the final are rained out? India and Sri Lanka will share the Asia Cup 2023 trophy between themselves. If this were to happen, it wouldn’t be the first time in cricket history. After the 2002 Champions Trophy final was postponed owing to bad weather, India and Sri Lanka shared the trophy.

While everyone in the cricket community hopes for sunny skies and nonstop action in the final, it’s hard to anticipate the weather. As the final of the Asia Cup 2023 approaches, cricket fans everywhere will be crossing their fingers and praying without hope that the weather will cooperate and finally give these two teams a chance to show what they’re made of. If not, it is likely that India and Sri Lanka will have to split the trophy once again due to the unpredictability of nature.
