[BREAKING] Hardik Pandya Injured During Nets Ahead Of IND vs AUS: Reports

After the confirmed illness (dengue) of Shubman Gill, India have another injury concern as star all-rounder Hardik Pandya reportedly sustained an injury during India’s net session on Friday at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where India will kick-start their World Cup 2023 campaign on Sunday against Australia.

According to as revealed by RevSportz, Hardik Pandya got hit on his fingers when doing batting practice in the nets in the stadium.

After being hit on his finger, the India vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, left the nets and didn’t bat again.

Is Hardik Pandya’s injury serious?

At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any seriousness of this newly sustained finger injury issue for Hardik Pandya. He left the nets after sustaining a hit on his finger, but that is reported to be just as a precautionary measure.

Pandya is a key cog in India’s balance as an all-rounder. Without him, the balance could go haywire as then India will have only 5 bowlers to bowl in the game.

At the moment, India are more worried about Shubman Gill’s illness status. Although head coach Rahul Dravid said on Friday that Gill is not yet ruled out, sources within the BCCI have said that Gill will miss the Australia game, and could even miss the Afghanistan match on October 10.

Dravid said that Gill hasn’t yet been ruled out from the Australia game by the BCCI medical team, and that the 24-year-old is already feeling better from before.

“He’s certainly feeling better today,” Dravid said. “The medical team is monitoring on daily basis. We have 36 hours, we’ll see what decision they take. He’s certainly feeling better today.”

“Medical team hasn’t ruled him out as yet. We’ll keep monitoring him on a day to day basis. We’ll see how he feels day after tomorrow.”

In the likely absence of Gill, Ishan Kishan will most certainly open alongside Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav are other options available, but Kishan seems primed to play against Australia. Kishan had an extensive net session on Friday evening, under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid.
