Match fixing has made a return to cricket as Cricket South Africa have started crackdown on corruption in cricket. Cricket South Africa gave harsh punishments to Ghulam Bodi and Thami Tsolekile earlier this year, to make their stand clear on fixing.
Recently, former South African opener Alviro Petersen was accused of match-fixing during the Ram Slam T20 Challenge’s 2015 edition. Because Alviro Petersen is a well established international cricketer, the news of his involvement in fixing spread like fire.
In a big goof-up, one of the newspaper in South Africa published Kevin Pietersen’s picture in place of Alviro Petersen. This news became viral on social media and it also reached Kevin Pietersen who didn’t like it too much. This is how Kevin Pietersen reacted:
In a tweet posted earlier today, England batsman Kevin Pietersen vented his anger at Dhaka Tribune, a Bangladesh-based daily, that carried the Alviro Petersen news using Kevin Pietersen’s image. He attached a picture of the column, with the following caption: Hmmmmmm!!!! Not quite sure I’m all that happy with my image being used under this headline!!! What paper is this??????
