The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has found itself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling after a few pictures of groundsmen trying to dry the pitch using sponges went viral on the internet.

Well, IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans which was originally scheduled to take place on 28 May, had to be moved to reserve day. The game started on time on Monday and Gujarat Titans (GT) put on a massive 214/3 in their 20 overs, riding on a stellar knock by Sai Kishore. However, after GT’s innings, the rain stopped the play at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

While the fans waited patiently for the game to start when it stopped raining at some point in time, the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) ground staff tried their best to make the ground ready as soon as possible. The groundsmen at work made every possible effort to ensure that the pitch and the field get dried up for the match to resume.

However, more than their efforts fans felt bad for the types of equipment they were using to dry the pitch. The GCA ground staff was seen using sponges to soak the water on the pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium.

BCCI Made A Big Mistake In IPL 2023 Final

Meanwhile, the BCCI is getting trolled left, right, and center on Twitter for the lack of preparedness regarding the washout. Among many, a fan highlighted a very big mistake made by the BCCI. The fan shared two pictures where he pointed out the difference between the ECB and the BCCI.

While in the first picture, the fan has shown how boards like England Cricket Board use hover covers, which cover a large portion of the pitch and require minimal manpower. On the other hand, the second picture depicts the sad reality of the Indian board, where the groundsmen are using sponges to soak water.
