A Journalist Slammed Fans Who Trolled Virat Kohli After The Third ODI

Last updated:

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper is regarded as the best ODI cricketer right now with many records under his name. The run-machine will be finishing this year without scoring a century in the ODI format.

Well, this is the first time in 11 years, that Virat Kohli couldn’t reach the three-figure digit in the ODI format in a year since 2009. It was in the year 2009 when he scored his maiden ton against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens on 24th December 2009. Ever since then Virat has never failed to score a century in any year.

This has been the masterclass of Virat Kohli. In fact, he has scored 17 centuries in the last three years — 2017- six in 2017, six in 2018, and 5 in 2019. The year 2020 ended the 11-year streak of Virat Kohli in ODI format. However, one of the major reasons behind it was of course the Coronavirus pandemic, because of which sports activities came to a halt around the world.

In the year 2020, Virat Kohli has played a total of 9 ODIs, where he scored 5 half-centuries and his highest score has been 89.

In the just-concluded series, Virat Kohli was seen in a decent form. In the first match, he was dismissed for only 21 runs, however, he bounced back and scored a solid 89 runs in the second match. In the third match also, he scored 63 off 78 balls.

However, he achieved a special milestone by breaking the record of the batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as he became the fastest batsman to get to 12,000 ODI runs and also became the fastest batsman to get to 22,000 international runs.

But despite his crucial knocks, there were many who were trolling Virat for his form. Meanwhile, a tweet has been going viral on social media which is a pert reply to all the trollers out there.

Well, a Twitter user named Abhishek Mukherjee, who is a cricket-writer explained that Virat has raised the bar so high that he is getting trolled even in success. He wrote:

“Virat Kohli in this series:
Average 57.66
SR 93.01
Moral of the story: Never raise the bar so high that you get trolled even in success.”
