A Journalist Wrote Why It Was An Unimaginable Moment For Rachin Ravindra

Kane Williamson-led New Zealand cricket team showed immense fighting spirit and great resilience on the final day at Kanpur to end the first test match with a dramatic end. Debutant Rachin Ravindra alongwith Ajaz Patel held their nerve to ensure New Zealand play out a dramatic draw in the first Test match at Green Park Stadium, in Kanpur.

Ajaz Patel and Rachin Ravindra survived 52 balls in a 10th wicket partnership, which eventually snatched a draw from a certain defeat. A lethal attack from the Indian spinners was not enough to ensure victory for Ajinkya Rahane and Co. as bad light brought an early close on day 5 too.

The win looked out of the question for the Kiwis and the final session turned out to be the battle between the Indian spin trio and the defense of New Zealand with their skipper Williamson in the middle. However, the Indian bowling attack ut up a stellar show as they attacked the Kiwis’ middle-order and picked wickets in quick succession in the final hour. Ashwin and Jadeja shared seven wickets between them, doing the maximum damage on the Kiwis.

But as things looked in favor of the Indian cricket team debutant Ravindra joined hands with Ajaz Patel and took the match away.

Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with tweets and messages lauding the efforts of both the cricketers, especially Rachin Ravindra. Fans are highly impressed with the performances of Rachin in the just-concluded 1st test match in Kanpur.

Meanwhile, a Tweet penned by Zenia D’ cunha, who is a journalist by profession, has been going viral on Twitter. In her Tweet, Zenia pointed out the irony that Rachin who has been named after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, not just played the game against Rahul Dravid’s India but also snatched a win from his hands. She wrote:

“Imagine naming your kid Rachin Ravindra – after Sachin & Rahul – and him growing up to play cricket & earning world champions New Zealand a draw in his debut Test as cricketer, denying Dravid on his debut Test as India coach by 1 wicket. Scenes! #INDvNZ #KanpurTest
