Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is hailed as one of the greatest skippers to have ever played the game. He is the only skipper in the history of the sport to bag all the three major ICC trophies under his leadership, namely – T20 World Cup, World Cup, and Champions Trophy.  He took the Indian cricket team to the number one position under his leadership.

On 23rd June, eight years ago, MS Dhoni achieved this win as he led the Indian cricket team to a thrilling five-run win over England in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in Birmingham. The 50-overs game was reduced to 20 overs aside because of the rain. MS Dhoni’s squad gave an amazing performance in all the departments of the game and turned out victorious in the final.

As the historic win completed 8 years, social media was flooded with pictures and videos from the memorable match, making everyone nostalgic.

Meanwhile, the Indian cricket fans were left heartbroken after the Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team lost the final of the World Test Championship by 8 wickets at the hands of the New Zealand cricket team. As soon as the Virat-led side lost the final, the Indian cricket fans started missing the magic of MS Dhoni’s captaincy and soon the former Indian skipper was trending across all social media platforms.

Among many, a popular cricket statistician named Bharath Seervi, who is very active and popular on the micro-blogging site, took to his Twitter and shared a tweet proving why MS Dhoni is the best captain ever in the ICC tournaments.

In his tweet, Bharath Seervi revealed that India has won 3 out of 4 ICC finals, whereas, India has won only 1 ICC final under the captaincy of all the other skippers. He wrote:

“India in 10 ICC finals: Under Dhoni’s captaincy – Won 3 (out of 4 finals)
All other captains – Won 1 (out of 6 finals)”
